This week we got delivered out Unit 2 assessment which is referred to as "long and lean". this is an ongoing essay project showing personal professional development and the journey of our work as artists within our specific field. Right now all I really need to do for this is keep up my blog and write down what im doing each week; ensuring to include photographs and other media to then create my presentation which I will deliver in May. My current idea is possibly compiling videos and images of myself and my work while also discussing the journey in which I am partaking during the course and hopefully make a short film. The brief itself asks for "a presentation lasting 15-20 minutes" which hopefully I can achieve with the work that I am doing at college at the moment as well as my independent study time at home. Like I have been doing through my blog I will need to asses my strengths and weaknesses and mention opportunities and threats. We have also arranged to do '360 feedback' which seems like a good tool for us to use to better ourselves as artists and students while also providing evidence for our Unit 2 assessment. After this we then moved onto our comments and feedback that we got on our LO1 that we submitted the week before for our Unit 1 as a lot of us were struggling how to word the assessment and understand the questions. Thankfully after that session I personally felt that I understood what the learning objectives and mark scheme was asking of me. As far as out Unit 25 (Special FX); we further decided to make a basic theme for what we will base our attack around in which we have decided to pick 'a shooter in a shopping centre' while also focusing it around the safeguarding posters around college which talk about 'Run, Hide, Tell'. We all agreed on that as a basic idea as it broadens our knowledge and gives the students at North Notts Worksop campus something else to work towards. We then moved onto talking about our ideas of what we want to create and start sculpting but before that we decided to start painting some pieces. I decided to play around with using my airbrush and new alcohol palette colours and pant some silicone pieces that we had left over from other projects. I decided to start working on an ankle compound fracture and so I started out by painting the bone piece an off white colour before then going in with some skin tone colour and a darker dried blood colour around the edge. I also used a specific tooth brush type tool to splatter blood across the piece to add some realism. Right now as you can see in the photo it isn't the most realistic as I feel that once applied with the correct amount of blood and other details it will complete the look of it.
My task for this week is that I want to do more progress/if not complete my unit 1 essay and submit my first draft so then I can focus more on my Unit 25 essay and also my portfolio that goes with it. I also want to make a start on some of my Unit 2 and just collect some notes and images in a folder ready for my film making!
